Terms & Conditions

A summary of the key terms of our Sale/Deposit Contract and Health Guarantee so they're easy to find before you reserve a puppy.

This page is a summary. The signed Sale/Deposit Contract and Health Guarantee are the controlling documents and contain the full terms, including provisions regarding legal fees, venue, and purchaser and seller signatures. The custom reservation system will require explicit acknowledgment/signature before a puppy is reserved.

Deposits & Reservations

  • The deposit is 50% of the puppy's price.
  • We cannot hold a puppy without a deposit.
  • Deposits are non-refundable.
  • A deposit may be transferred to another available puppy if you change your mind before pickup.
  • If the puppy isn't the right match at pickup, you may choose another available puppy or retain a credit, with up to 12 months to use it.
  • Once you leave with your puppy, the sale is final — no swaps or refunds.

Payment

  • We accept debit, credit, and cash.
  • We no longer accept checks.
  • Debit/credit card transactions are subject to a 2% service fee at checkout.

Health Guarantee

  • We provide a written one-year health/genetic warranty, subject to the written agreement and its requirements.
  • The puppy is vet-checked before going home, with signed paperwork and shot/worming records.
  • The purchaser must have the puppy examined by their veterinarian within 24 hours, including a wellness exam and fecal flotation.
  • The purchaser must report/send the requested veterinary results to Toys and Teacups.
  • Failure to complete the required examination and reporting can void the guarantee.
  • A 72-hour provision applies for distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, and parvovirus, as described in the written agreement.
  • Veterinary expenses after purchase are the purchaser's responsibility.

Exclusions & Disclaimers

  • We do not guarantee adult size, color, hypoallergenic status, or fertility.
  • Size estimates are estimates only and cannot be guaranteed.
  • Puppies cannot be guaranteed to be completely parasite-free.
  • Common conditions such as hernias, hypoglycemia, roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, coccidia, giardia, fleas, ear mites, mange, and ringworm may occur.
  • Infectious diseases referenced in the agreement include distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, and parvovirus.

Replacement Remedy

  • The agreement generally provides for replacement rather than cash reimbursement when a qualifying covered defect is established.
  • The process involves examination by the purchaser's veterinarian, notification/documentation, examination by Toys and Teacups' preferred veterinarian, and agreement regarding the qualifying defect.
  • Replacement is with another puppy of comparable/equal value under the contract terms.
  • The agreement allows time for a replacement puppy to become available.
  • We do not promise reimbursement of veterinary expenses.

Buyer Responsibilities

  • Schedule the required veterinarian wellness examination within 24 hours.

  • Follow the supplied puppy care instructions.
  • Have required food, vitamins, crate/playpen, and supplies ready.
  • Do not abruptly change food or treats during the initial transition period.

  • Follow the written contract and health guarantee.

Registration

  • Some puppies may have AKC or CKC registration.
  • Some puppies are sold as pet-home only.
  • Breeding rights/papers may require an additional fee and are available only to approved homes.
  • Registration or breeding rights are not included with every puppy.

Rehoming & Warranty Transfer

  • If you can no longer care for your puppy/dog, contact Toys and Teacups — we may help find an approved home.
  • Rehoming assistance does not constitute a refund of the purchase price.
  • The written warranty applies only to the family that signed the agreement and is not transferable.

Pickup & Shipping

  • A deposit is required before pickup.
